MAT 0390. REMEDIAL MATHEMATICS. 3 CREDIT HOURS
The student will receive remediation in fractions, decimals, integers, and percents. The use of these principles in application is stressed. One hour computer lab is required. (No degree credit)
MAT 0392. REMEDIAL ALGEBRA 3 CREDIT HOURS
The student will receive remediation in real numbers, exponents, radicals, polynomials, factoring, and the Cartesian Plane. One hour computer lab is required. (No degree credit)
MAT 1310. BUSINESS MATHEMATICS. 3 CREDIT HOURS
The student will be introduced to basic algebra as it is used in business. Many practical applications such as insurance, tax rates, mortgage, credit interest and investments are studied. Prerequisite: MAT 0390 or placement test.
MAT 1312. COLLEGE ALGEBRA. 3 CREDIT HOURS
The student will be introduced to algebra as it is applied in every day life. Algebraic concepts, including but not limited to functions, linear equations, quadratic equations, and systems of equations are studied. Prerequisite: MAT 0392 or placement test.
MAT 3310. ESSENTIALS OF MATHEMATICS I. 3 CREDIT HOURS
This course is designed as an introductory course for teaching mathematics in an elementary classroom. A major goal of this course is to guide students to an understanding of concepts related to numbers and number systems. Students are given opportunities to practice and to demonstrate knowledge of patterns, relations, functions, and algebraic reasoning. Special emphasis is given to mathematical and problem-solving processes. A 10 session teaching practicum is included in this course.
MAT 3312. ESSENTIALS OF MATH II 3 CREDIT HOURS
This course is a continuation of Essentials of Math I. The content of this course includes concepts and principles of geometry and measurement. The mathematical and problem-solving processes introduced in Essentials of Math I are further explored along with opportunities to reason mathematically, to solve mathematical problems, and to make mathematical connections within and outside of mathematics. Students are given opportunities to demonstrate knowledge of probability and statistics. A 10 session teaching practicum is included in this course.
