HIS 1303. AMERICAN/TEXAS HISTORY THROUGH RECONSTRUCTION.
3 CREDIT HOURS

The American political, social and economic institutions are traced from their European backgrounds to the end of the 19th century. The course stresses the importance of the American heritage and tradition through the legacy of constitutional democracy. A special focus on the background, historical figures, and legacy of Texas will be considered.

HIS 1304. AMERICAN/TEXAS HISTORY SINCE RECONSTRUCTION.
3 CREDIT HOURS

Beginning with the close of the frontier and continuing with the impact of American industrialization, this course studies social development from agrarian society to international leadership. Problems of 20th century involvement are analyzed and discussed.

HIS 3301. HISTORY OF CIVILIZATION I 3 CREDIT HOURS

This course includes significant developments from prehistoric times through the sixteenth century. Achievements and experiences of great civilizations, emphasizing major historical figures and epochs, important ideas and religions, and factors of continuity and change will be discussed. The students will be provided a foundation for understanding our heritage and shared values and will be introduced to the historical forces that have shaped today’s world.

HIS 3302. HISTORY OF CIVILIZATION II 3 CREDIT HOURS

This course includes significant developments from the seventeenth century through today. Major modern trends such as industrialism, nationalism, imperialism, socialism, and the more complex problems and conflicts of the present century will be discussed. This course provides a foundation for understanding our heritage and shared values and introduces students to the historical forces that have shaped today’s world.

HIS 3305. HISTORY OF CHRISTIANITY: PRE-REFORMATION. 3 CREDIT HOURS

Emphasis is placed on the origin of the church with the ministry of Jesus Christ. The growth of Christianity is traced from the first century to the Reformation.

HIS 3306. HISTORY OF CHRISTIANITY: POST-REFORMATION.3 CREDIT HOURS

The place and influence of the Reformation on church history is studied. The founding of the church in the New World is included. The rise of modern denominations and cults is considered also.
