COS 2301. MEDIA APPLICATIONS 3 CREDIT HOURS
This course will focus on the purpose of media as used primarily in children’s ministries. The students will experiment with different types of media used for communicating, instructing/learning, worshipping, and record keeping. Special attention will be given to researching and creating websites, to exploring web-based software, to using the Internet for research purposes, to using select computer programs (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) to create products, and to experimenting with basic desktop publishing functions.
COS 3301. COMPUTERS IN SCHOOLS 3 CREDIT HOURS
This course provides students with an opportunity to conduct in-depth explorations of how computers are being used to promote/enhance/support instructional activities in EC-12 education. Students will finish the course with a solid understanding of educational technology, including how to use computers, how to access and evaluate information on the World Wide Web, and how to integrate computers and educational technology into classroom curriculum. Emphasis will be on how educational computing might contribute to school reform, as well as to the training of teachers (both pre-service and in-service). Prerequisite: COS 1301 or proficiency in touch-typing (test required).
