CM 4000. CHRISTIAN SERVICE.                                                   NO CREDIT HOURS

All students taking four semester hours or more must complete all senior level Christian Service requirements during the senior year.


CM 4200. HOMILETICS I.                                                                2 CREDIT HOURS

The student will thoroughly deal with the fundamentals of sermon preparation and writing. Emphasis is placed on the various types of messages, including topical, allegorical, and expository. Prerequisite: SPH 1301, BIB 1305.

CM 4201. PASTORAL MINISTRY I.                                               2 CREDIT HOURS

This course includes a study of both the philosophical and practical aspects of the office of pastor. Through lecture-dialogue classroom sessions as well as hands-on practice, the student is exposed to the actual work of the pastoral ministry.


CM 4202. HOMILETICS II.                                                              2 CREDIT HOURS

The student will deal thoroughly with the fundamentals of sermon delivery. Emphasis is placed on effective styles and techniques of delivery. The student will deliver sermons in the classroom where these principles are closely examined. Prerequisite: SPH 1301, BIB 1305, and CM 4200.

CM 4203. PASTORAL MINISTRY II.                                              2 CREDIT HOURS.

This course is a continuation of material began in Pastoral Ministry I – CM4201, pertaining to the philosophical and practical aspects of the office of pastor. This study will include lecture-dialogue sessions on areas necessary for effective ministry and church growth through pastoral leadership. The pastor’s role in relation to personnel, programs, and priorities is the main focus of material.

CM 4204. VISUAL PRACTICUM                                                       2 CREDIT HOURS

This course gives the student an opportunity to enhance his/her oral and written presentation skills. The students will choose specific presentation media for specific content and gain practice in oral and written presentations for a specific audience. These presentations will be presented in a variety of settings (Christian schools, on-campus chapel, local churches, etc.).

CM 4302. CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT FOR CHILDREN       3 CREDIT HOURS

This course allows the student practical experience developing a children’s curriculum for a variety of children’s ministries throughout the church.

CM 4303. FIELD SURVEY.                                                       3 CREDIT HOURS 
                

Students visit a prospective mission field and report their findings with a historical summary of the background of the field visited. A witnessing tool for the field, a daily journal of the trip, and a slide presentation of the trip are all requirements of this course.


CM 4304. MISSIONS DEPUTATION WORKSHOP.                     3 CREDIT HOURS

The nature of this course is to help the student determine the “Call” or the “Will of God” for service and to pursue it. The course is designed to help those students who are planning to start their “Intern Deputation” during their senior year through the World Baptist Fellowship Mission Agency. Emphasis will be placed on the mission agency’s policies and internal administrative policies. Special emphasis will be placed on the need to raise funds through the deputation method. The workshop will cover many different facets of the integral part of deputation, the importance of correspondence with churches and individuals, and different methods of raising the needed funds.

CM 4307. SEMINAR ON YOUTH PROBLEMS                                 3 CREDIT HOURS

A study of the most pressing needs and problems of today’s youth is conducted with an emphasis upon designing and implementing a practical ministry of intercession for troubled youth. Students will be exposed to trained professionals specializing in the field of crisis intervention and other human resources that will prove valuable for immediate and future ministry to youth. Prerequisite: CM33 10.
